Typical trap speeds are ~95 MPH.
Great times, Randy -- you're right at the Windsor in a better car, with better mileage and less pollution.

So much for the folks that say "Why race the V6??"

EDIT: Added some Camaro V6 times for your notes, Randy (even tho' you've already seen these and posted over there ).

Cool, looks like I should be pretty competitive against the new V6 Camaros. The V6 Challengers need help, my 05 4.0 Mustang could even take them out no problem, it ran consistent 15.4s @ 90 mph.

You're right about getting a tuner, that's the first real mod I want to get. You can tell the car would do better with more aggressive shift points. I'm just waiting for someone to have with preloaded tunes for my car. Diablo Motorsports in Florida is asking for volunteers to let them test their 2011 Mustangs. You leave the car with them for a day or to. They give you a free rental car, tune your car, and give you a free Diablo Triton tuner. My next vacation isn't scheduled until the last week of July. If they still need a car like mine at that time, sounds like it could be a fun road trip for a night or two.

edit: I don't think Triton is the name of the tuner, I forget, maybe trinity or something.

I velcroed my iPod to my dashboard this morning to keep it nice and stable, wish I thought of that sooner, works much better than the windshield mount. I did a couple more 0-60 runs, got it down to a 5.46.

I went to a car show held by buckeyestangs at the Quaker Steak & Lube in Columbus yesterday. I managed to get a top 10 trophy.

Thanks guys. I still haven't let my dog ride in it yet, but once I do, its days of winning trophies at car shows will likely be over. He sheds. But I like him more than trophies.

He is a red-tri Austalian Shepherd, they have similar colors to your dog. Britts are cool too.

Thanks. I'll update here whenever there is something new to report. I have over 1000 miles and my mpg is only 17.2.

My mpg is down to about 16.8, but it's been a few weeks since it's been on the highway. Still only around 1,350 miles on it.

I was off a couple weeks ago on Thursday. Got done with yard work, I was looking to have some fun, so I went back out to test and tune. It was even hotter than the last time I ran, and I was using 87 octane instead of 93 octane, so I was slower. My 1/4s were between 14.6-14.8, and my mphs were down about 2-2.5. I still had fun, got some more practice launching. I got lined up next to a Challenger R/T which was a manual transmission and had at least an aftermarket exhaust.

I got the lead on him right from the start. It didn't take long for him to pull up even with me, then gradually pull away. He would have put quite a beatdown on me if it was a 1/2 mile race, but it was a respectable race for most of the 1/4 mile.

No mods yet, still waiting for other people to do mods so I can see what works the best. There still seems to be a lot of R&D to do on modding the 3.7.

The only mods you need are a pair of sticky tires mounted on a spare pair of rims and a hand-held tuner.

All manual Challengers suffer from bad wheel hop from the factory, so hitting it hard out of the hole is where your biggest advantage lies...

Yeah, I noticed the Challenger R/Ts with the automatics are getting much quicker times, like low 13s.

I like your mod suggestions, but first I have some household expendetures that are more important (but not nearly as fun).

I may head out to Kilkare Dragway tomorrow (Thursday the 29th) since I'm on vacation. Gotta do something for fun. I could get a few runs in then head back to the bar for trivia, where my team kicks ass. Free victory drinks are good, and we have the winningest team there.

I don't know why more gtxfers don't go do test and tune night. It's like the easiest form of racing you can do, so simple. It's fun too, to check out the other cars. While waing in line to make a run, I often get out of the car and mingle with the other drivers, it's very cool to see what they're running.

I'm thinking about starting a gtxf 1/4 mile leaderboard on the paddock if it can be stickied. I would need timeslip photos. This isn't a message board with a huge membership base, so I doubt there will be many submissions if I do it.

They are closing Sacramento Raceway right now, if it hasn't been done already. Zero places to race cars for ~120 miles in any direction.

Edit: Wait, I think there is a dirt oval in Placer County somewhere, maybe Placer Fairgrounds?

Yup. It's a teeny little bull-ring, too, really fun. We should check out a race or two some time.

And don't forget All American Speedway, up in Roseville.

I don't because the last few cars I've had have been manuals and I *hate* viewing my clutch as a wear-item. Hate it, hate it, hate it!

(Also, I drive an open-diff MINI. *shrug*)

I'd still like to see Ross kick out the jams at <13.5 in his MS3, tho'.

I could see that, one of the reaspns I got an automatic. I've burned out clutches before, and that wasn't even at a track.

I decided to save 15 dollars and not go today, Feels ok, but is still mid 80s, would be tough to improve on my best. Besides, I'm having fun playing GTAIV and RDR.

I really do need to get to the drag strip sometime.

The horsepower for a <13.5 run is probably there, the traction, I'm not so sure about. I do have a trans mount thats supposedly been on backorder forever, which should cut down on wheelhop. Still need to install upgraded HPFP internals as well (for adequate fueling as opposed to forestalling inevitable failure like in N54 engines).

Be sure to punish that clutch, Ross.

If you go to Union Grove, send me a note and I'll come watch.

This week, on Thursday, the high is supposed to be 76 degrees, the lowest high in months. I am off on Thursday, the weather calls for no rain, so I think I'll hit the test-n-tune at Kilkare Dragstripto see if I can get under a 14.5.

Finally, a Thursday night in the mid 70s, the first time in months. I had the day off, and it was test & tune night again at Kilkare Dragstrip, so I got there early. I was lined up against a guy driving a Scion TC that was turbocharged. We had a longish wait before raciing started, So I talked to him for a while. Turns out he just got back from Iraq. This isn't the first turbo he's had on the car. He was running a more aggressive tubo setup and getting 13.3s, but that one blew apart or something. He backed off and installed a milder turbo. He hasn't had a chance to run it yet before tonight since he's been overseas. His lovely woman (gf or wife) was there with their puppy, a german shepherd/sharpei mix, extremely cute.

My number was T22, here is my car after the runs in the parking lot there.

I kept my launch around 1,800-,1,900 rpm. My psi was 32.5 in the ront tires, 30.0 rear. Smooth launch, the TC driver sqealed his tires big time, I got a big lead and held it, but he had higher trap speeds.

New best time, whoo-hoo! But I wasn't done, I had another run left to do before the huge turnout discouraged me from getting back in line.

Next run I was lined up against a red 2000s Mustang Mach 1. Dude was at least my age, and into it, he seemed cool. He had drag slicks and other stuff, I knew he would smoke me, I am still 100% stock. The Mach 1 guy retieved a weather report, it was 75 degrees, 47% humidity, 30.0 barometer. I might as well toss in the the track elevation is around 900 ft. I got a new personal best time again!

I am going on a limb and saying the current V6 will more than likely pull high 13's with decent street tires

very cool stuff
