Just finished - Deadly Edge, Slayground, and Plunder Squad by Donald Westlake under the psuedonym Richard Stark
The 14th, 15th, and 16th novels in a classic 24 book crime series starring a heist-man named Parker. They've been movie-ized a few times, most notably as Point Blank starring Lee Marvin and Payback starring Mel Gibson. The important thing is that the University of Chicago Press is re-printing them three at a time- in order. This allows me to complete my collection since some of them have been out of print since the mid-70s. at this point, I'm only one book away from having all of them and this makes me over-f*cking-joyed. Having finished those over the past 3 days, I'm starting to re-read Shogun by James Clavell for the first time in several years. |

Some of the earlier ones from the '70's are better than okay.
Not great, but worth a read. Just finished a James Rollins. Just started the "last" Robert B. Parker book. "Blue-Eyed Devil".

I was reading 'Apocalypse 2012', but couldn't finish it. I dropped it 1/3 of the way through. Just too boring.
Getting ready to read 'The Power of Coincidence' by David Richo. I've had this book on my shelf for a while, and tried getting into it before, but just didn't make a real effort. This book focuses on the idea of synchronicity and how to recognize and benefit from meaningful coincidences. |

Just finished re-reading Pattern Recognition and Spook Country by William Gibson in preparation for Zero History coming out today.
I really hope it works a bit better that Spook Country did, although I liked SC much more after re-reading it. Still not up there with his best work, though. |
